Internet Business Plan - Benefits of Newsletters p.2

Bring in more income with your newsletter by charging for it!

Many people believe that a newsletter or E-zine’s profitability ends with the fact that it brings in more traffic. Many people are wrong! If a small business owner wants, they can add additional profits from producing their newsletter in the form of money per download. How does this work? A consumer who is interested in your newsletter and wants it bad enough to pay for it will use PayPal or credit card in order to buy your newsletter or purchase a one year subscription to it. If this sounds like something you want to do, there are a few things you will want to keep in mind:

1. You’ll need a high quality newsletter! The only way you can possibly charge even a nominal fee for your downloadable newsletter is if you have something that is worth something! A high quality newsletter will be something that is highly sought after and that is read by a large amount of people. A good idea is to start with a free service poker newsletter or E-zine and then move it into a set price, be it monthly or yearly, after you see that it has been downloaded frequently.

2. Maybe you should hire a writer. If you feel as if your retail product business needs a more profitable newsletter then you may want to consider hiring a freelance writer to pick up the slack for you. If you feel that you can write the full newsletter with utmost quality then more power to you, but if you are like most business owners you’d rather let someone with more writing experience handle the task for you! Making sure you’re newsletter is good is the first consideration in charging people to read it!

3. How much will you charge? So you know you want a product newsletter that you charge for but you’re torn between what to charge for it, huh? Price is often the biggest deliberation with newsletters or E-zines but the good news is you’ll only have to think about this once! Most newsletters will be a couple of dollars if you want to download it one month and around $20 for a year subscription. Your price could range above or below depending on your content and the length of your piece. E-zines tend to be a little bit more expensive because they include pictures and longer articles. Price is important because if you charge too much, no one will buy it but if you charge too little, you’ll be getting ripped off!

4. Should you really charge, or should you keep it a free service? If you are really confused to whether or not you should charge for your newsletter it is probably a good idea to keep it a free service. Only move up to a paying level if it starts getting really popular really quickly!

Newsletters help combine the world of news/ knowledge with the world of your business products!

Part of the reason newsletters are so popular is because of the way they mend two worlds together for most businesses. Small businesses and companies can learn a lot from the way other businesses selling other products have used newsletters or E-zines. The best newsletters tend to combine newsworthy topics with relevant products put out by the business.

For instance, a product company that specializes in running shoes (they may carry other products as well) will include relevant news about running as well as show a line of their branded shoes within the newsletter! This combination of news and product is what makes a good newsletter so valuable to a good business!

Brings a sense of quality to your business!

So what do people think of when they think of your small business? Do they think of you in high regards and as a business that has the best in quality as well as customer service? In internet marketing, it is always better to keep your current customers then it is to continually be on the look-out for potential ones! A product newsletter or E-zine will make your business seem more professional and more corporate, even if it is run right out of your living room!

Even if you have to hire a writer or take some writing classes yourself to learn proper writing techniques and design features, it will be worth it in the end. Just like a professionally built newsletter will bring quality to a business, a poorly executed one will destroy a perfectly good business’s reputation!

If you want to be a ‘hole in one’ small business that seems to always get the right customer ratings and more then satisfactory results you will want to at least explore the possibilities that a newsletter holds for you. A newsletter isn’t for everyone, mind you. Some retail product companies would do better without a newsletter, such as those that:

Are having too much of a financial strain already
Are run by a sole owner who is doing all of the dirty work themselves
Are just not interested in advertising in this medium
